The A-Team’s television show was a mixture of drama and comedy in the early 1980s. George Peppard played the character Col. John Hannibal Smith. It didn’t matter how many odds were against the A-Team; they somehow managed to save the day. At the end of every show, Hannibal said, “I love it when a plan comes together.”
I can see God saying that to us, at least when we have a little patience and work with His plan. It’s easy to get upset and angry when something doesn’t work out as planned. However, most likely, the root of the problem is that we are working against God. He has a perfect plan for us, especially when the odds are against us. How important it is to surrender to Him in His plan.
The odds were against Elizabeth and Zechariah having children. In those days, people thought a woman being barren was a curse. Timing is everything. For God’s plan to come together, certain things must happen. John’s birth had to coincide with the advent of God’s Son. John’s vocation was to prepare the way of Jesus.
Gospel Challenge:
What odds are working against you right now? Does something seem impossible? Are you giving up? Be patient and wait for God’s timing. Like St. John, “We are not worthy to unfasten the sandals of His feet.” If God needs us, He will let us know.
I promise you will love it when his plan comes together for you. St. John the Baptist, pray for us.
