A Clean Heart Gives God Plenty of Room To Work In Us.
God saw everything He created as good. Therefore, there is permanence in His goodness. Furthermore, His goodness is always within our reach. What is that goodness in us? It is more than a virtue. He created us in His image and likeness. Therefore, we carry His DNA in every cell of our being.
We are not trees or water or a bunch of chemicals put together. We are not objects. When a man looks at a woman lustfully for pleasure, she is an object to him. The same is true for a woman who looks at a man lustfully for her pleasure. This sin leads to many other sins of abuse. Violence is the fruit of lust left unguarded. Little thoughts over time become horrible acts of violence that leave awful scars in a person’s life.
Every sin against chastity begins with a simple thought. We are sunk if we allow that thought to grow in our minds, creating a storyline. However, unfortunately, emotions soon catch up with the idea, and it is not easy to let them go. It’s like watching a cloud in the sky. It goes on for what seems forever.
Nevertheless, there is a better way to treat that thought. In a few seconds, we can see a whole day of clouds on the Weather Channel. Acknowledge the thought and let it go. It will be gone. However, there is a better way to deal with these thoughts of impurity.
Call on Mother Mary. Did you know the saints tell us that Satan is so frightened of Mother Mary that even the mention of her name sends him to the furthest corner of hell he can go to get away from her? She and St. Joseph kept Jesus safe until He willingly laid down His life for us. She is ready to protect us, too. Even a short prayer, two words, Hail Mary, will overpower every temptation and bring you back to an even state of mind and heart.
Then you and God can honorably move on with life. Peace be with you, my friend.
