Three simple letters make up a word that has changed the direction of the world, and that little word from Mary’s lips was “Yes.” She implied that word when she said to the angel, Let it be done to me as you say.” God, who created the world, asks permission to enter his creation as a man.
God asks every one of us to do something that will bring Christ into the world in a way that no one else can. We haven’t an Angel to speak to us, as did our mother, Mary. But something keeps coming back to us, which God asks us to do.
Sometimes, we can devise various reasons why we can’t do something. That is so true if we try to do anything without God. If what God asks you to do seems too much or too far-fetched, keep repeating those words: “Do not be afraid, Mary. You have found favor with God.” “Do not be afraid, Rick. Do not be afraid. You have found favor with God.” Listen to Angel Gabriel whisper those words in your heart.
I promise you this: Our hearts will burst with joy when we say yes to God and mean it, and Jesus will come into the world like never before.
