I remember as a kid, we never locked our front door, even at night. People felt safe in their homes. I remember how we would stop by the church for a visit, and the church doors were always open. How times have changed! The alarm companies are a dime a dozen these days. Even our cars have alarms.
Jesus doesn’t need an alarm system. He has His Father’s Hand that can do all good things for us, including protecting us. Have you heard the expression, “Put it in the Lord’s hands?” There is a song by Ocean, “Put your hand in the Hand of the Man who stilled the water.”
Our hands can accomplish many things, good things. How crippled we would be without any hands. I consider my life crippled unless I put all my cares and concerns in the Hands of Jesus. It’s another way of saying, “I trust You, dear Jesus.” “You take care of everything.” Once we are in the hand of Jesus and our heavenly Father, no one can snatch us out of His care.
Every morning in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, I put the parish and school in those might Hands. I would be a nervous wreck if I didn’t. Jesus is at the helm of our ship. He knows where we are going and how to get there. All the events of today are worked out in great detail.
Are you anxious about anything? What concerns you the most, and what keeps popping into your mind that worries you? Visualize Jesus standing in front of you with His Hand out. Put your hand with all your concerns in His. Let all that makes you anxious go to the One who created and sustains the whole universe. Then, let those hands work out something beautiful for you. The Lord is with you.
