Time
Useless or useful? For whom?
Luke 13:1-9
Would you mind opening your Scriptures and reading these verses prayerfully?
The word “useless” in the Gospel jumps out at me today. When I write an article like this for you, I ask someone to read it because I don’t see my mistakes. Some words or phrases I write make no sense. They are useless to the reader.
It makes me think how many of my actions and behaviors are helpful for me but useless to Jesus and others. I must admit that there are times when I have to take stalk of myself and see what is behind what I think and decide to do. The parable speaks to me and you too, please God, that time is of the essence. My heart needs to produce the good fruit of Jesus’ heart today. He is looking for His patience, kindness, mercy in me like the owner was looking for figs on his tree. I better pay attention.
The Gospel Challenge:
Think back on an occasion when things got testy with someone. All they needed was some of your patience to explain themselves. Or think of an experience when someone needed your attention because you are essential to them. But, unfortunately, something else had your interest.
Play that scene out in your imagination with Jesus. What is different when you put a person before your stuff to do. The Gardner got an extra year to work on the fig tree to produce good fruit. Use well the Lord’s patience with you. You will be surprised how different things will be.
IGNITE THE FIRE.
God bless you, my friends.
