A fork in the road?
Luke 10:1-9
Please open your Scriptures and read these verses prayerfully.
Life is full of drama. Any of us could sit down and tell a story or two of something that happened to us recently that hit us broadside. Can you recall a story that caught you off guard, something beyond your capabilities?
St. Luke, a companion of St. Paul, faced a fork in his road. He was and the only one who wasn’t Jewish. Everyone did not always like Paul. In fact, at one point, everyone deserted him except one, Luke. When you commit yourself to someone “in the Lord,” you are with them through thick and thin.
The Gospel Challenge:
Jesus sends us out, “Like lambs amongst wolves.” That is strange. Jesus is after everyone, even the worst of the lot, like St. Peter, St. Paul, like St. Augustine (google him). Jesus expects us to be in situations and with people who just don’t get it and don’t want to get it. Do you know anyone like that?
Yes, Jesus is sending you, his apostle, to bring that person home to Him. You are their home. You have all the furnishings: the heart of Jesus, full of mercy, full of tenderness, listening, understanding, wisdom. Whatever they need, Jesus is ready to give them His Kingdom, His salvation, through you. So pray for that person/people. Go to them and, over time, befriend them. Learn what makes them tick. Be His lamb among wolves. “I send you out, (your name), like a lamb among wolves.”
IGNITE THE FIRE.
God bless you, my friends.
